We dug up the official document from the Central and Western District Council concerning “Proposed Pound Lane Escalator Project: Findings of Public Consultation and Preliminary Refined Scheme”. It’s short on detail, in particular concerning the various public perspectives for and against the development, but it does state clearly that the administration is (still) open to whether or not the escalator should be built, and has passed the decision-making off to the District Council. Of particular interest are the diagrams provided of the actual construction plans, and the parts in the text where it is made clear, that building this thing will alter or damage some significant historical structures.
