Working primarily with photography, sculptures, and video, Yan finds inspiration from traditional Eastern philosophical ideas and is known for his works on the relationship between humans and nature. In 2016, Yan received the Kyotographie International Photography Festival KG+AWARD. In 2012, he was shortlisted for the Hong Kong Museum of Art Contemporary Art Awards.
殷氏早期以攝影、雕塑及錄像創作， 後來從傳統中國哲學取得靈感， 開始專注於人與自然之間的關係。二零一六年獲得京都國際寫真祭KG+ AWARD 年度大獎， 亦曾入選二零一二年香港當代藝術獎。
