DESCRIPTION:Building the Walkable City | 建立一個步行友善城市 \nModerator | 主持 Melissa Cate Christ\nSpeakers | 講者 Christopher Law（羅健中）and Paul Zimmerman（司馬文） \nThere has been an increasing focus on walkability in Hong Kong\, with events such as the 2016 Walk21 conference and the campaign to pedestrianize Des Voeux Road Central (DVRC) garnering press\, government\, and public attention. This panel will discuss the current status of our streetscapes\, public spaces\, and infrastructures with regard to walkability. It will then highlight the steps that need to be taken to improve the pedestrian network in order to make it more efficient\, accessible\, legible\, safe\, and enjoyable.\n香港的可步行性愈來愈受到重視，不同的事件如 2016 年的 Walk21 國際會議以及讓行人佔領德輔道中的運動吸引了媒體、政府與公眾的關注。今次的座談會將就可步行性討論目前街景、公共空間和基建的狀態。然後，我們會介紹改善行人網絡的效率、可訪 問性、清晰度、安全度與可享受程度所需的步驟。\n\nMelissa is the Principal Investigator for the RGC funded project Hong Kong Stair Archive: Documenting the Walkable City. She is also a registered landscape architect (Ontario\, Canada)\, a Research Assistant Professor of Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)\, and the founding director of transverse studio\, a collaborative practice which intersects trajectories of landscape\, culture\, urbanism\, and infrastructure through a documentary process of investigation\, design\, and activism. Prior to teaching at PolyU\, Melissa was an an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Hong Kong and a designer and project manager at Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Ltd. She has also worked as an urban designer at Dutoit\, Allsopp\, Hillier\, and as an instructor and design critic at the University of Toronto.
