The course explores the complexity and interaction between urban environments and their communities, as well as the role of agency in design practice. It includes local and international research and case studies that demonstrate typologies of landscape formation, process and meaning. The course also includes a review of methods of community engagement, both formal and informal, as well as engaging students in ‘real world’ community issues , in particular the investigation of local community environments faced with the possibility major transformation through the development and construction of significant infrastructure.
